Stephen Barrett - Partner

Stephen was project architect for the Bordeaux Law Courts project, France, Terminal 4 Barajas Satellite, Madrid, and also for the new Control Tower at Heathrow Airport

 

Stephen joined RSHP in 1993. He was made an Associate in 2004 and a Partner in 2016. He was project architect for the Bordeaux Law Courts, Terminal 4 Barajas airport, Madrid and the Control Tower at Heathrow Airport, and spent two years seconded to the RSHP Madrid office as project architect for Campus Palmas Altas in Seville.

In 2008 he led a multi-disciplinary team participating in the international consultancy on the future of metropolitan Paris “Le Grand Pari(s)” - a masterplan for Greater Paris 2025 which was commissioned by former President Sarkozy, and which examined the changing needs of urban Paris in the 21st Century. Since then, Stephen has been the project leader for two large mixed-use masterplans in Paris: Bercy Charenton and, more recently, Gare de Lyon-Daumesnil.

Stephen is now responsible for the studio’s Francophone projects and since 2013 has been leading the team that won an international competition for the new Terminal 1 at Lyon Saint Exupéry Airport. Since 2016 he has been leading the team at Geneva Airport Aile-Est.

Stephen has been an ongoing member of the RSHP sustainability group. He led the LEED certification process on the Campus Palmas Altas project in Seville and managed the environmental footprint audit of the practice’s own activities in 2008. He is a qualified BREEAM International Assessor.
